This was a lesson I learned during my recent trip to Uganda. While I was excited to explore the country, I soon realized that my work commitments were going to take up most of my time. Balancing work and personal life can be tough for entrepreneurs and freelancers, as work often follows us everywhere

I had just come from visiting Kenya and Rwanda, where I was able to explore and enjoy the local attractions. However, I soon found myself in Uganda, with a workload that was piling up. I had no choice but to cancel my itinerary and focus on my work.

Despite being disappointed about missing out on the gorilla walking tour, I tried to make the most of my stay in Uganda. Near Lake Victoria, I enjoyed walks and views from my hotel, a peaceful break from my busy schedule.

Reflecting on my trip, I learned to set realistic expectations and prioritize responsibilities instead of trying to do everything. It’s okay to acknowledge that we can’t always have it all and may have to put some things on hold.

Moreover, I also realized that it’s crucial to plan ahead and give ourselves enough time to prepare for our travels. This can include wrapping up work commitments beforehand or delegating tasks to others. By doing this, we can enjoy our time away without worrying about what’s happening back at the office/work.

In conclusion, while my trip to Uganda didn’t go as planned, it taught me some valuable lessons about balancing work and travel. By setting realistic expectations, planning ahead, and finding ways to enjoy the present moment, we can make the most of our travels, even when we have work to do. I’m already looking forward to returning to Uganda and experiencing all it has to offer, with a better understanding of how to balance work and play.
